Garden ringing
Another wave of siskins have been feeding up in the garden over the last week or so and boy have some been feeding a ringing session this afternoon of just over an hour produced another 23 siskin caught and ringed with weight variations from light 13.o.grams to fully fuelled and ready for migration 16.5 grams the heavier birds are most likely north eastern European birds . Several of the birds were carrying good amounts of body fat. With the 23 birds from today that brings the total of siskins ringed in our garden since the beginning of February to 303 and that is only half of the total amount of siskins that have visited the garden so far
