White Coppice 12.30-1.30pm
A couple of forays up to White Coppice today and yesterday lunchtimes - surely no better place anywhere at this time of year. Many thistle thrushes being noisy and sociable, song thrush, a raven being mobbed by 2 crows, grey heron, reed bunting (in the drained lodge next to the cricket pitch), kestrel, 2 buzzards soaring together, treecreeper, nuthatch, willow warblers (must be the most populous bird up there in the woody areas, with the meadow pipit taking its crown higher up in the moorland areas), chiffchaffs, wood warbler (could hear it from outside Heatherlea woods), garden warbler along the Goit path yesterday and a tree pipit today parachuting and singing between the trees on the moorland path parallel to the Goit. Garden warbler, tree pipit and raven takes this year's Chorley list to 93.
