Day out for a change in the west of Chorley District, v different from the hillier Pennine side, but no less interesting.

Croston Finney - 3 x stock dove in ploughed field, lapwing, LBB gull, skylark, 2 x grey partridge, grey heron, 3 x whinchat (2 m 1f), sedge warbler, buzzard and tawny owl on woodland floor (before taking flight deeper into the wood).

Eyes Lane - redshank, linnet, whitethroat, yellowhammer, lapwing, LT tit, goldfinch, skylark, kestrel, chiffchaff.

Croston Twin Lakes - sedge warbler, 2 x common tern, GC grebe, song thrush, swallow and house martin.

Croston Mill - 3 x mandarin (all male), pied wagtail, whitethroat, many swallows, house martins and the odd sand martin (at confluence of R Yarrow and, I think, Syd Brook).

Whinchat, sedge warbler, grey partridge, stock dove, house and sand martin takes my Chorley total to 86.
