Re: YVP & Lower Burgh Meadow/Burgh Lane
Hi All,
Walk Lower Burgh Meadow yesterday morning, 5 snipe took up, 4 -5 pairs of Reed Bunting, the kestrel is more or less seen on every visit.
Cock pheasant, most common birds at the woodland edge, plenty newts in the pond, but alas the frog spawn seems to have failed.
Mallards are on the pond as usual, Tawny owl heard frequently at the sou west corner.
Peacock butterfly.
Previous week, up to 12 bumble bees seen on the Willow Blossom, along with other insects, a few bumble bees seen yesterday.
In the puddle ponds dug by Lower Burgh Meadow Conservation group, various wader footprints can be seen, definitely Snipe and Heron, if you go and have a look, please keep to the perimeter of the airfield and if you id some other prints. please let me know.
Plenty of seed germination on the meadow and in the woodland to its edge.
Walked up yesterday afternoon to, with 3 Buzzards overhead.
Unfortunately still plenty dogs running through reed grass and other sensitive areas and plenty rubbish about from the tip in the morning, but moved by my afternoon walk.
Cheers Eddie
