The view over the large field next to the Douglas this morning could have easily been one from Martin Mere with a good selection of birds , around 50 lapwing , 60 pinkfoot , 2 kestrel , 1 buzzard , small numbers of skylark , a large area of water had attracted 15 oystercatcher , 1 redshank , 3 curlew , several shellduck , small numbers of bh gulls , on the river were 30+ teal , several mallard , 10 canada geese , 2 greylag geese , on the drainage ditches there was a kingfisher , little grebe , 2 moorhen , and 2 mallard , at least 3 singing yellowhammer and a flock of 50 fieldfare .
Curlew and Greylag Goose brings my chorley year list up to 95 species .

Which 5 are you missing, Gary? I'm guessing Little Egret, Green Pecker, Blackcap and Brambling plus one other? Amazing that no one's had Siskin yet.

Lesser Redpoll Neil , like you say Neil whats happened to the siskins ?

BTO confirm 90% drop in Siskins this year - comparatively mild weather has meant little or restricted movement from breeding grounds - shame - missed the little souls on my bird table!
