Had a walk at dusk to look out for the Barn Owl that occasionally feeds over the former quarry. No direct sign but I found an owl pellet and some Red Fox scat. There is a remarkable number of vole trails in the grass, the majority of the dry areas are covered in them. During my walk I disturbed a Common Snipe, which is the third one reported in the area within a week.

Highest numbers of finches in my garden this winter today, with 6 Goldfinch and 5 Greenfinch.

With Common Snipe, total number of Bird Species in the Chorley Nats Area is now 75.
