Marshide Great White Egret
Out of area record today- driving to Southport to collect daughter (training course!) saw a G W Egret on sea marsh about half mile before sand plant - about 500 metres from road (lucky I actually had bins and scope in car!) - on way back about 15 mins later it had gone despite good look around - keep you eyes open in C&DNHS area!

Brian, I saw what i presumed to be a great egret flying over my house in Bretherton in early January this year. I couldn't be sure so didn't post on forum, it was flying west and can only describe it as a very large white bird with long trailing black legs. Definitely not a heron or little egret.

There's been a GW Egret out at Marshside for most of the winter, but there was also one which wandered around East Lancs during the Autumn with one or two possible sightings in the Chorley area usually by cyclists or joggers!
