Out and about around Croston 1/2/15

CROSTON MOSS (9am - 11am)

Braved the cold wind for a walk from Rufford train station onto Croston Moss by the feeding station and returned along east side of the railway. Bit squelchy in places, particularly east side of railway but worth it !

Stock Dove 8 *
Bullfinch 2 (1 pair in double hedge)
Linnet 15
Yellowhammer 2 * (feeding station)
Tree Sparrow 3 (feeding station)
Little Egret 1 * (flew low north from near feeding station, returned to ditch 200m south of feeding station before returning north over towards Finney Lane)
Coal Tit 1 (feeding station - unfortunately, not a Willow Tit !)
Red-legged Partridge 3 * (300m south of feeding station)
Kestrel 1

TWIN LAKES (1115-1145)
Goldcrest 2 (by level crossing)
Gadwall 1 (male) *
Great Crested Grebe 1
Tufted Duck 5

CORN MILL RIVER YARROW (1150)
Mandarin 2 (1 pair) *

* 6 new species for Chorley list = 71
