Cormorant, Fieldfare & Goosander - 29th Nov.

Post by Bill Aspin »

13 Cormorant roosting in trees on Upper Rivington Res. Didn't have time to check extensively for the Ring-necked Duck. I presume the reservoir has been well checked by local birders since the last sighting on Nov 23rd?

12 Goosander on Yarrow Reservoir at 15:30hrs.

60 Fieldfare at Moses Cocker's, SD636152 at 15:35hrs.

Ring-necked Duck

Post by Neil Southworth »

Bill,

As far as I know, yours was the last sighting of the RND.

I've stopped on the causeway on two or three mornings on the way to work, but there has been no sign of it or of any Pochard for that matter.

Pochard and Tufted don't seem to be hanging around at the site this year. Conditions must not be right.

Thanks for the picture by the way. I can even detect the neck ring!

Regards,

Neil

I went on 23rd at about 3.45pm and it was still there with the group of 8 Pochard.

Thanks to all for the replies. I enquired as I was wondering if it could perhaps be lurking up at the northern end, out of view from the causeway.

I'm of the opinion the RND is a returning bird. Lets hope it's relocated in the area soon.

Regards,

Bill.
