plenty of common woodland species plus 5 kestrels (3 at gillibrand) kingfisher in the channel at YVPark, 3 dippers between dob brow & ackhurst on the river, 2 sparrowhawks, nuthatches and a bird of prey flying low & fast across a field near duxbury, looked too big for a sparrowhawk but wrong shape for a buzzard, any ideas ??
Brown back with a paler underside thats as good a description as i can give

Last year there were one or two reported sightings of Goshawk from Yarrow Valley Park, although female Sparrowhawks can be quite large.

thanks Neil, as it was low & fast we didnt get to see many i.d. features but the size & way it was flying were unusual for a sparrowhawk.
if the rain ever stops i will go back that way for another look, if anyone wants to know it was flying across a field on the edge of duxbury woods down burgh lane south, i think it is called, just across from an area that has been fenced off for what looks like building.
