charnock charter lane , 40 pinkfoot ,around 30 redwing disturbed by a single sparrowhawk
eccleston am 8 whooper swan heading south
syd brook large flock of siskinand a few goldfinch on the alder probably around 60/70 birds alsofew chaffinch 1 bullfinch 1 gs woodpecker 1 snipe m/f pheasant 3 song thrush 4 mallard 5 moorhen also had a strange encounter with a single woodcock i flushed the bird in a large open field i can only assume the bird was a recent migrant and was having to feed in the day to build up its fat reserve (this is the first time i,ve fushed a woodcock on a open field in the daytime before) as anybody seen this behaviour before?
