Robin behaviour

Post by Neil Southworth »

Jack,

It's fairly unusual in my experience. But a few years ago, I had a Robin using a hanging feeder, although it took it all winter to work out how to get on it!

Robins on feeders

Post by phil kirk »

I am also finding that the Robin(s) are using the hanging feeders - both nuts and seed - more than before. I notice this year that Chaffinches are also trying to use them.

Total lack of Greenfinches at the moment. Anyone getting them?

We are getting about twelve Greenfinches in the garden daily with the Goldfinch. We have also had Dunnock on the feeders. Yesterday we had a pr.of Blackbirds trying to mate and a fight between a Greenfinch and a House Sparrow at the feeder they were having a good scrap with bills and feet .

HI nora, I still haven't had any luck with greenfinches or goldfinches. I have tried sunflower hearts like you said and I hav tried nyjer seed and black sunflower seed. and nothing has ever come up. The only finch I have had is a chaffinch that came once.

There are definitely goldfinches in the local area as they fly over the house every day. They only ever seem to go to a feeding station up the road in someones garden. Very annoying! :x  :x  :x  :x  :!:

Robins & Greenfinches

Post by Dave Beevers »

Robins have been regular on seedfeeders for a few years.

Only 3/4 Greenfinches currently as opposed to double figures in past
