Croston Finney 04/11/07

Inspired by Neil's entry yesterday I thought I'd try Croston Finney today - and not a ruddy-legged partridge in sight! Saw a huge flock in the distance - ahhh the linnet perhaps? But no - just c1000 starlings and not a single linnet among them....

Despite the disappointment I did see 1 cormorant, 5 jackdaws, 4 pheasant, 2 grey heron, 7 moorhens, 4 magpies, 6 blackbirds, 2 collared doves, several woodpigeons, 1 goldfinch (lost its mates?), 1 chaffinch, 2 stonechats, 1 robin, 8 lapwings flying over, 20 crows, 1 pied wagtail, blue tits, greats, house sparrows, several flocks of meadow pipits / larks, 1 sparrowhawk, 6 grey partridge (I think from a distance) and a pair that looked very much like grey wagtails expect they had black caps, still had black bibs and yellow wing flashes any ideas?
