Terns at Birkacre

Post by Neil Southworth »

Aidan,

Terns at Birkacre at this time of year are most likely to be Common from breeding sites at Bolton.

However, with the current stormy weather, I don't suppose it's impossible that a couple of Arctics have been driven inland from the coast.

Where the two birds together? Was there any black on the bill of the other bird.

Did you notice any other features?

One bird circling the lake, hovered, dived, caught fish and was joined by second bird. Both birds flew off in the direction of the weir

Could not see any other markings on second bird
