Woolston Eyes, Saturday 16th May 2015

Post by Neil Southworth »

Our next Field Trip will be to Woolston Eyes nature reserve near Warrington on Saturday 16th May. This is a permit only reserve, for which we have arranged access.
We are meeting at Yarrow Valley Park car park at 9.00 am, and will travel in convoy to the site, where we are to be met by a warden at 10.00 am. The intention is to car share as much as possible.
If you wish to go directly to the site, the directions are as follows:-
Assuming you are travelling from the north, leave the M6 at Junction 21. Take the A57 west towards Warrington for about 2.5 miles. Go straight on at the first large set of traffic lights. At the next set of lights, turn left into Kingsway North signposted A50 Macclesfield. Doug Brady Hi-Fi will be on your right as you turn into Kingsway North. Keep left at the roundabout, go over the Mersey on Kingsway South to the traffic lights by the Lidl store. Turn left here into Thelwall Lane. Continue along Thelwall Lane, following the bend to the left, straight on over the small traffic island and past the new housing estate, keeping the Ship Canal on your right, and continue past Latchford Locks and Alcan. There is a locked barrier at the top of the slope at the entrance to the reserve and a second one further along the track after a couple of hundred yards. We will be met by a warden at the barrier and escorted to the car park by No.3 bed.
If you intend to travel direct to the site, please let us know so that you will be expected when we get there.
