Siskins Aughton
Siskins Aughton
A colleague at work swears she had a pair of Siskins feeding on Niger seed in her garden at weekend (17th June). Is this likely?

Siskins
I've had a quick scan through the last four or five Lancashire Bird Reports, and in all cases summer records of Siskin are confined to the east of the county at places such as Stock's Reservoir and Belmont.
It, therefore, seems unlikely, although I suppose nothing is impossible.
They weren't possibly juvenile Greenfinches, were they?

She is sure they were not juvenile greenfinches. Says they had delicate bills and black heads. Goldfinches were feeding at the same time and the "siskins" were smaller than the goldfinches.
I am fairy sure that her eyes are OK. I will pass the record to Steve White to see what he makes of it.
