HOM - Banks Marsh - Marshside
First birding outside Chorley for months and early start at Hesketh OM - 3 feeding arctic terns, c.15 avocet and a perching sedge warbler the highlights. Largest flock of turnstone (44) I've ever seen in the area were at Marshside, with much larger numbers of godwits and more avocets (with young). At least 5 yellow wagtail in the potato fields behind Hesketh (+ 2 at Banks Marsh), although the blue-headed and channel variants found by Stuart Darbyshire were not among them.
