Lunt Meadows near Maghull
Birding at Lunt Meadows 1100 to 1630hrs yesterday (Fri 23rd). A fine afternoon, 42 species. Volunteers were building the first hide at the site, there are several screens with seats. I had gone hoping to see owls (Barn & SEO) - none seen even at dusk. Saw v briefly a Bittern coming into roost near the Mesolithic excavations, and a Med Gull was pointed out to me by someone far more knowledgeable than me re gulls - very white when in flight, good views of it. A site not too far away well worth a winter visit. Not sure if Chorley Nats have had a field trip there?

Yes, we had a field trip there a few years ago, when it first opened, Jed. Probably worth another visit sometime to see how it's developing.
