Menorca (Day One)

Post by ianball »

Family holiday in Cala’n Bosch... some great birding highlights both on the trip over from the airport and around the hotel. Fingers crossed for more good birds on the trip:-)

Coach journey:
12 Egyptian Vultures (inc group of 11 on outskirts of Ciutadella)
4 Booted Eagle
5 Red Kite
1 (possible) Red Footed Falcon
Woodchat Shrike
Corn Bunting

Cala’n Bosch:
2 Audouins Gulls (10m away on the beach)
Sardinian Warbler (Pair of birds at our feet!)
Tawny Pipit
Mediterranean (Spotted) Flycatcher
Cory’s Shearwater
Balearic Shearwater
Common Swift
Yellow Legged Gulls
Turtle Dove

Better pictures to come but here is one from my phone (!) showing how close the Sardinian Warbler was...
