Provence Region, France

Post by Neville Root »

Spent a week in the Luberon area of Provence visiting family. Many of the birds there can be seen in Chorley - cuckoo, whitethroat, chiffchaff, blackcap, GSW, jay, buzzard and also the harder to find serin and black redstart.

Wot no Bee-eater, Roller, Hoopoe, Golden Oriole, Red-backed Shrike, Woodchat Shrike, Black Kite and other such goodies, Neville? A bit too early perhaps?

Unfortunately not Neil. Dodgy pair of cast-off binoculars and the Luberon hills being the haunt of hunters meant the wildlife was keeping a low profile and the birds were very skittish.
