The last two weekends have seen me continue the education of my now 12 year old eldest in the joys of autumn migration. Last week saw us descend on Spurn for a day of bushes full of birds, birds, birds!!! Robins, thrushes, chiffchaffs, goldcrests popping out of every hedgerow and sycamore. Overhead Tree Sparrows, Meadow Pipits and Skylarks added to the numbers. My eldest was enthralled. Of course added to the mix were the scarcities. Olive Backed Pipit, Pallas's Warbler, Rustic Bunting, 4 Yellow Browed Warbler, Red Breasted Flycatcher, Lapland Bunting were the stars. Then came the news of the Siberian Accentor. Would it hang around till Sunday when my delayed jobs list was complete? Spurn part two...
...ten yards away, gorgeous, sublime, ridiculously rare. Siberian Accentor. A beautiful bird and only about 30 of us watching it this afternoon compared to the 1200 on Friday!!! Little Bunting, Shorelark, Bean Geese, Ring Ouzel and Brambling rounded off another cracking day at Spurn.
Pictures of Siberian Accentor below. On the next posts a few more of the birds seen over the last two weekends...

Re: Spurn Fest
The flock of Bean Geese (containing both subspecies), Ring Ouzel, and heavily cropped picture of Little Bunting - you can just about make out the chestnut lores and eye-ring (well you can in the uncompressed version :-/. It was showing well in a mixed flock of Buntings at Sammy's Point.
