Leighton Moss (Sun 5th June)
Highlight of the visit was 3 spoonbills at the Morecambe Hide, with 5 little egrets showing how large spoonbills are. The lowlight was zero water on the Allen Hide (due to high tide damage over winter) which might have accounted for the absence of avocets (although reportedly they are around). Lesser whitethroat could be heard singing near the hide. On the main reserve a M & F marsh harrier were quartering. Also plenty of reed and sedge warblers seen and heard (but no Cetti's). Close-up of a Broad-bodied chaser feeding and thousands of blue damselflies over the water.
