Whilst up in the Bowland we were very lucky to come across this large female adder basking in the morning sun.
A further search of the area revealed a sloughed skin 96 meters away. This looks like it may be from a female too.
On a side note, what are the two specimens of fauna included in the album?

Hi Peter, there are records of adder closer to home with reports from Calf Hey Reservoir and the Pennines.peter west wrote:Hi Paul. I'm envious would love to see and photograph an adder
You'd think that there would be adders around the fell sides at White Coppice?!
They can be so difficult to see as they are silent and blend in well.
The best time to see them is usually before it gets too hot. 10am seems to be a good time as the temp is just right.
Also, broken sunshine may extend the chance of seeing them.
Normally they only come to light when they've either bitten a person or their dog.
The Lakes seems to have a few hot-spots.
Hopefully we may see more adders before the archaeology season starts again in August
