Brown Argus

A report in he Butterfly Conservation newsletter states that Stuart Booth has seen a Brown Argus near Chorley. If you read this, Stuart, or if anyone knows Stuart, I would really like details of the sighting for our records.

House Martins

We seldom see a House Martin near our house (Euxton) but there were 20-30 of them feeding over the garden and the field next door this afternoon.

Scale is difficult to judge, but markings look like Large Emerald.

I went to Alance Bridge again today There were at least a dozen and probably many more. They seemed to be on several of the trees. I watched two and possibly three females ovipositing.

We have lived in our house for almost 39 years, so don't often get new birds on our list. A Meadow Pipit in the field next door today brings the list of birds seen from our garden to 75.
