White Coppice & Birkacre a.m....

White Copp..expected species in abundance, linnets, warblers, chaffinches etc., and a dipper. At B'acre weir enjoyed watching pair g/wagtails searching for food and dipper also active. On a different theme spotted a brace of really good sized trout lower down stream.

Three steps, Little Abyssinia and Limbrick

All the usual species seen in abundance includings lots of warblers not seen. Pair of g/wagtails, dipper and long t/tits near the Thirlmere water pipes with plenty of insect life on river with small brook trout rising. ( A lovely afternoon-better than a week in the Med...)

Pair grey wagtails working the river bank, k'fisher and mallard rear of Plessey. Jay, robins, b'birds etc. aplenty -also Speckled Wood b'fly on drive to Golf club

St. George's Church garden 6.30am, within minutes-3 magpie, goldfinch, wren, thrush,p/wagtail, house sparrow, dunnock, rook and numerous blackbirds

Ricky Hoyle reports seeing the following in White Coppice today:- male Cuckoo near feed stream to the beck, Wheatear - and a Stonechat 1st old quarry also in Heapey, House Martin and a Whitethroat.

Resident dippers at Weir, K'fisher just past Drybones and usual assorted finches through to Duxbury. Saw what I thought what were 3 leverets cavorting in field prior to ' green bridge' but they were squirrels. Heron in Firwoods and pair of Nuthatches showing interest in a nest box (maybe looking for...

Any sightings of the Ravens at St. George,s Church - passed each morning this week before 7.0am but no signs ? Should be some activity by now..

High noon - White/Black Coppice, Nab.

All the area buzzing with bird song. 2 Curlews (flying), 2 deer, yellowhammer rear of Nab. Plenty of good cover now with everything bursting into new growth.
