Re: Yarrow Meadows

Wall, Green Hairstreak and Small Heath are the only local 'regulars' I've not seen on the meadows. Would now like a repeat of last year's Fritillary and get it ID'd this time.

Yarrow Meadows

Spent several hours checking every Small Skipper for Essex, nothing yet. With Red Admiral, Common Blue and Large Skipper today, have had 17 species of butterflies on the meadows over the last couple of days. My first Hobby sighting of the year over the meadows as well this afternoon. Presumably on i...

Re: Hic Bibi Nature Reserve yesterday 19.07.2023

Cheers Peter, was thinking a worn moth with some residual red across the wing and the twin spots. Wing shape in hindsight better for Common.

Thinking Red Twin-spot Carpet for the moth. Great shots and good comparison of the Darters.

Re: Croston/Mawdesly Moss yesterday 19.07.2023

Great pics Len. Wondering if a juvenile Corn Bunting for last picture. Bill shape looks right and juvs are plainer than adults (if a bird can get any plainer).

North Yorks Moors

Day out in God's Own Country meeting up with friends. Couple of walks, one producing crippling views of a female Goshawk in a valley below us and at eye level. Then, a late lunch at Sutton Bank where the butterflies were impressive - dozens of Ringlet, as well as Meadow Brown, Red Admiral, Large, Sm...
