Thanks Peter, got my hopes up there for a while, I have never seen a Mealy(Common) or an Arctic Redpoll in the flesh.

Pete,

I note you have recorded the Redpoll as Common Redpoll and not Lesser Redpoll, if so that would be an extremely good record for the Chorley area.

Short-eared Owl

There is a very nice photo on facebook of a Short-eared Owl (quite a pale looking one compared to ones I have seen before), taken yesterday somewhere in Rivington (although it is captioned as being a Long-eared Owl).

Nice shots Ian. If its feeding in the lodge it may indicate that the oil smell has not caused too much of a problem.
