A lovely walk around the moss today in the sunshine. Very still and the fields were steaming as the frost melted. Fallow deer

A single fallow deer this moring in the woods between Garth and Wymott Prisons. I have been told of a herd up to 2 dozen in the area.

ccommon sand

The common sand first flew over me about 1 km from Eccleston Bridge heading west whilst I was chatting to an angler. I then found it again a few hundred metres before the bridge and it then flew off south.

The Twite were in a field along Spent Brook about 1km W of Ingrave Farm.

River Yarrow - Croston to Eccleston late morning

Several small parties of LT Tits, C Crows & Jackdaw, Woodpigeon, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Wren, Blue, Great and Coal Tits, Blackbirds, Robin. Small numbers of Fieldfare. Song Thrush.

Highlights were single Common Sandpiper and single Snipe flew over. 3 Twite.

Very quiet afternoon. Small numbers of Redwing, Fieldfare and Lapwings. Wren and Goldcrest along with various Tits. Watched a Barn Owl for 15 mins between Sumners Lane and Spa Well Lane. Croston moss - 7/12/08

Roe Deer came from Lords Wood, straight across the Moss and headed to the railway line. 2 Buzzard, Kestrel, Redwing, Fieldfare, Red-legged Partridge, Pheasant Chaffinch, Goldfinch, House Sparrow, Blackbird, Skylark Large flocks (several hundred each) of Carrion Crow, Jackdaw and Starlings. Croston Moss - 16-11-08

Lots of Long-tailed Tits and Goldfinches. Tree Sparrow, Goldcrest, Pied Wagtail, Reed Bunting, Wren, 2 Grey Partidge. Flock of 1000 Starlings.
Usual common birds.

Very quiet day for geese. Only a skein of 130 PF over west. 5 Whoopers over west late pm.
