on sunday evening whilst sorting out the animals on are smallholding a twitering call filled the air above and i looked up to see 4 swallows passing over head heading nne @18.08 bst

sun 17th birkacre kingfisher flying upstream over weir mixed flock through the ivy covered trees near wier contained 3 nuthatch 7 lottis and a good mix of other titmice

quite a few redwing and fieldfare close to the road in fields near to charnock richard crem this morning {sun} you may be able to get some shots if they are still there

the garden today {sat 16th} the snow has gone but alas so to have the male brambling and male fieldfare m+f gs wood and single song thrush brightened up the very wet day

tues 12th unfortunatly due to the presents of the fieldfare the redwings from yesterday were regularly chased away as were all members of the turdus family

hi keith i think the most likely cause at this time of year is a very close encounter with a predator could have been a cat small passerines have the ability to shed feathers as a reaction to attempted predation the lotti goes through a tail feather and wing feather moult during august and september...
