Paul, it was an impressive size. I have created quite 2 long strips of flowers for bees, butterflies and other insects, and this year I have seen a lot of insects I haven't seen before. I am assuming this is an ichneumon wasp but can't find an i.d. online.
Can anyone help please?
Landed on the back of my car near my garden in Chorley.

Fingers crossed for the next generation, I have planted all areas out the back of my house with bee and butterfly friendly plants and have seen a lot more insects this year than ever before.

Dragonfly emerging 1

I went looking for dragonflies at Hic Bibi and found this larva just as it had crawled out of the pond.
I took lots of photos as it transformed to a stunning Black Tailed Skimmer over the next 2 hours.

Box Tree Moth

First time I have seen a Box Tree Moth.
Pristine example of one in the garden today, but it flew up to the upstairs window frame to rest.
Poor quality photo taken with my phone through a scope.

Yes, in previous years there have been a few nests around this area, but I have never seen this many birds before.
