Chris,

I wasn't sure whether there were two or three young, that's why I put 'what appeared to be' - your sighting is probably more accurate.

There was a Woodpecker drumming in Burgh Wood, YVP recently. I would presume it was a Great Spotted, although I didn't see it.

The Wood pigeons viewed from my window are called 'Dysons' as they are more efficient than 'Hoovers'.

The weir was in full, thunderous flow this morning, didn't appear to bother the Dipper though which was active. Sweet cicely in flower. A Buzzard was sitting tight in a tree not far from the weir. Heavy rain meant a good soaking for me.

Nice pix Len. I too was visiting Dave's dragonfly pond and did see a vole moving like greased-lightning in the ditch that borders part of the pond. It was the right colour, and I only saw it from behind but it did seem to be a little on the small side for a water vole. The pond definitely requires f...

I was at the pond a few days ago just to see if any toads/frogs were breeding there. I didn't see a thing, no sign of life whatsoever, not even a fly! I'm glad that Dave had a productive visit.
