Healey Nab Sunday 10th April

A little quieter today in the warm sunshine, apart from a mass of Willow Warblers! Also Chiffchaff, Chaffinch, Blue and Great Tits, Redpoll, Crow, Magpie, 2 Jays, 1 Buzzard, Pheasant, Skylark and a calling Curlew. Excellent day on the Nab for birds today. Just had 10 minutes gazing through my home office window towards Healey Nab. And also 1 Kingfisher, 3 Buzzards and 2 Reed Buntings at 14:30.

Lower Healey at 16:30 Mallard, Blue and Great Tits, Chiffchaff, pr Swans, Dunnock, Wren and Robin. Also noted lots of Magpies in both locations.

Brinscall Plantation

Doing some repair work this morning. Recorded GS Woodpecker (drumming and calling), Green Woodpecker, Chaffinch, Dunnock, Robin, Great and Blue Tits. There was also a raptor calling, but I couldn't positively ID it.

Up on the wet and windy moor this morning, I was treated to a brief display by 2 skylarks in full voice. Also a dunnock being very vocal in a nearby farmyard.

23 Waxwings looking wet and miserable at McDonald's at 11:00 this morning (Neil, looks like they re-grouped). Chris,

It's only a small site on the edge of a former farmstead off Bispham Road. Blackpool BC have boosted the tree numbers by planting new local orchard species, and it is equally for the benefit of the residents as well as wildlife. Hope it lasts!

Blackpool (but not so sunny)

Been working in Blackpool this morning at a reclaimed ancient orchard site. Lots of Goldfinches, Dunnock, Blackbirds, GS woodpecker, Greenfinches and Tree Sparrows. It was also very refreshing to see an impressive mass of snowdrops in full bloom.
