I must have only just missed you arriving at 530pm !

Similar sightings with no owl tonight for me although I thought a couple of the 13 swans were young Mute but it was fading light.

Also of note, there was a male Pintail there this morning about 815am.

Early evening visit

Highlight was a hunting Barn Owl which passed over the bridge next to my car at 510pm.

Godwits & Curlew still present at 1210pm. Lapwings increased to c240 Increase of gulls to c400 in total with 4 LBB. Also went to Croston Finney & Loch Meadow this morning. Highlights were: Little Egret 1 Grey Partridge 2 Snipe 20-25 including 1 or 2 Jack Snipe Redshank 1 Oystercatcher 10 Sky...

Eyes Lane - another wader

Star of the show are a couple of * Black-tailed Godwits on the main flood, still present 1005am.

Also 1 Curlew, 4 Oystercatcher, c100 Lapwing, 17 Whooper and 4 Mute Swan, c60 Shelduck, 4 Herring Gull, 2 LBB and c 200 BH Gull.

* the Godwit takes me to 102 species for the year.

Golden Plover increased to 6 before departing the flood with Lapwing and Curlew at 1015am towards the fields by the canal at Sollom.

Also Goosander increased to 6 with 3m/3f.

250 BH Gulls included 2 LBB, 10 Herring and 1 Common.

Lapwing 180 earlier down to 50 after a Carrion Crow pass
Golden Plover 4 with the 50 Lapwing at 930am

What a glorious morning it was so I decided to start up in the snow on Winter Hill with perfect conditions for seeing and hearing. Red Grouse 2 heard on the Manchester side on the walk up. Quick call in this morning.

Water Rail 1 or possibly 2 calling for 5 minutes from the sedge/reed area by the junction to the main fishing pool.

Coot 3 pairs on main fishing pool and another on the overgrown pond towards the tip.
