Charnock richard sightings .

4 oystercatchers flying together , 1 kestrel hunting , tree sparrow heard in flight , 1 grey wagtail , 1 heron , a fox ran across the road near to the services this evening .

From the rufford end , 10+ corn bunting , 10 tree sparrow , 2 yellowhammer , 1 reed bunting ( little meadow lane ) , 2 little egret , 2 heron , plenty of displaying lapwing , curlew heard , 2 possible golden plover , 1 shelduck , 1 cormorant , 1 1mm mute swan on the river and an adult seen in flight...

A visit after the rain , lots of birds on the great close field area 100 pinkfoot , several hundred each of linnet and starling , 70 lapwing , pair of stonechat , elsewhere 2 snipe , 4 buzzard , 1 sparrowhawk , 9 oystercatcher , 4 curlew were on the flooded fields along little meadow lane . oysterca...

Eyes lane flood .

Lots of standing water on the fields , 5 pintail were the highlight along with 50+ pinkfoot , 10 mallard , 4 teal , 6 shelduck , 30 lapwing , bh gulls , lbb gull , kestrel sheltering in a nest box , the pintail were still present when i left at 10.00am .

The annual pigeon shoot was well underway ( every saturday in feb) on the mosses which had caused plenty of birds to disperse , a female hen harrier was hunting along the double hedgerow on the croston side and an amazing 3 great white egret were seen ( 2 heading towards alma wood and 1 along meadow...

A female goosander is a rare bird for the water , 5 teal , 2 moorhen and the usual mallards .

The best spot for viewing chiffchaff at the sewage works is the row of hawthorn along the settling tanks ( access over the galvanised gate ) walk slowly and wait for the birds to flit along ( quite often they will double back on you :wink: ) .
