(9.15-11.00am) As per Gary and John for Eyes Lane sightings. Jury is still out on the green sandpiper though! Re: Eyes Lane floods

1.00-1.45pm - similar sightings to Nora and Len (great picture of 'hunter' and 'hunted') - but no GWE, peregrine or merlin. Also, a great black-backed gull feeding off what looked like a dead rabbit on the banks of the Douglas. The nearby crows kept a respectful distance from the GBB, unlike a LBB g...

Re: Feeding station for Hawfinches .

I met the Vis miggers above Georges Lane on Mon and the hawfinches were moving fast (and distant) in a westerly direction i.e. towards Chorley. I think they only got the first Manchester record shot (in flight) yesterday, so they do not appear to be hanging around.

Re: Eyes Lane

As per Gary & John, also a single ruff dropped on the flood. Huge numbers of pink foots over the mosses. Charlie, a counter for Hesketh Out Marsh, was passing and estimated upwards of 4,000.

Re: Bretherton eyes floods .

Arrived about 20 mins earlier than Gary and saw a juvenile marsh harrier fly over the flood sending up the gulls and lapwings before flying off to the west. Other sightings were identical, other than a single teal on the flood and a hunting stoat on the river bank nr the bridge.

Did you get a shot of the harrier Len? (realise 'shot' is probably not the right word in Eyes Lane!)
