I don't believe this - there are now four goosander. What are the odds of five tomorrow? And I got some half decent pictures.See my Britsh Birds in the Gallery.

I went looking for J Hewitt's kingfisher and found two female goosander on the river instead.

Neil I must have missed you by a few minutes! It looks like the Rutland warbler could have been a whitethroat. John Frankland thinks so and Lars Jonsson suggests a first winter whitethroat. Do you agree?

One dipper and only one kestrel ! However there is a dead sheep up in between the quarries which should attract a few scavengers.

The British Birdwatching Fair is huge so it is no wonder they can afford to re- introduce Ospreys there. This year two birds which had been born to re-introduced birds reared two of their own. A ringing demonstration produced a beautiful wood warbler. See photos.
