Re: Tincklers Lane to St Marys Eccleston

Just downstream from the Corn Mill bridge this afternoon on my way to the polling station, I spotted a female Goosander with at least 6 young. Couldn't tell if the family was bigger than that as they were heading around a bend away from me. Also, a Mallard with 6 young at Mill Brow. 2 Shelduck on No...

All good images but I really like the Linnet against that pale green background which makes the bird stand out really well. Looks like you placed it there for a portrait shot!

Much coming into flower today. 1 Brimestone, 2 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Peacock in the Croft Field and 1 Brimstone in the Cemetery. First Willow Warbler of the year in...

Re: Barn Owl edited to add photo

Thanks for the comments. Surprised that the owl is still around this morning along the avenue which crosses North Park using the posts to watch the ground for prey. There's also a lot of standing water and a pair of Mandarin Duck have moved in to take advantage. Also 3 Buzzards, 2 of which are on th...

Barn Owl along edge of Grape Lane and North Park this afternoon. It was perched on a fence post and I got to within 20 metres for stunning views.

Osprey sighting

I bumped into a couple in Croston who are birders visiting the area for a few days from the Midlands. They told me they saw an Osprey this morning which, by their description, was moving North West in the area of the E-shaped Pond. On my walk down to the village I heard 3 or 4 singing Chiffchaff. On...
