Marshide Great White Egret

Out of area record today- driving to Southport to collect daughter (training course!) saw a G W Egret on sea marsh about half mile before sand plant - about 500 metres from road (lucky I actually had bins and scope in car!) - on way back about 15 mins later it had gone despite good look around - kee...

Gale Moss Lapwings

Cold morning saw 120+ Lapwings on Gale Moss- most I've seen on there this winter - also 2 Cormorants flying NE at height. In the garden still have a pair of Willow Tits but LT T Tits are still few and far between - 2-4 at most.

Re: Otter sighting at Yarrow Valley Park

I've seen numerous Mink & Otters over the years (including one in the recording area some years ago - it was reported but location was and still is restricted) and this is in my opinion certainly an Otter - great record - although what the Bream and Pike in Birkacre may think is a different matt...

Ringed Necked Parakeet

After the report a few days ago of a bird around the hospital area of Chorley one is also reported around Burgh Lane - pictured on Facebook on a bird feeder - spreading or escapes?

Collard Doves and LT Tits

Just thinking the other day that we see far fewer Collard Doves around the garden these days - pushed out by the hordes of Woodpigeons - and then this morning there were 12! - but LT Tits are still to make an appearance in any numbers - bad breeding season or sufeit of natural food at the moment?

Re: Morrison's Peregrine

Yep, saw a female on the south (ish) face this morning. (....and not related to Chorley but an indication of urban birds - a pair of Ravens mobbing a male Peregrine over Fishergate, Preston this afternoon - and not a Christmas shopper noticed!)

Re: Croston/Mawdesley Moss pm

Certain that is a Bewick - seen good numbers over years - another good id point I always found in poor light is the neck - shorter proportionately to body than other swans - clearly shown in the photos - great photos and record!
