Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and a pair of Buzzard over Tinklers fields, the Buzzards were in the air together for well over an hour. Pair of Long Tailed Tits on Sydbrook Lane. I crossed the road to where I saw them and eventually found the nest. 60+ Curlew on north side of Yarrow.

Peregrines Warton Crag

Plenty of activity at Warton Crag this weekend. Pair of Peregrines seemed happy enough sat on the cliffs all day but they got 2 visits from another Peregrine and this stirred things up a bit. They got rid of it twice then went back to relaxing in peace and quiet.

Yarrow Buzzard

Approx 6 or 7 weeks ago I saw a Buzzard perched on a branch over the Yarrow staring into the river behaving as Cormorant would. I had never seen this before and discussed it with Gary (Lilley) over a pint. Today it was sat in excactly the same place, on a dead tree where the Sydbrook joins the Yarro...

Eccleston (Buzzards), Croston moss, Mawdesley 21/2/11

Tinklers Lane Buzzard appears to have found a mate. I have seen the two together for last few days after months of only seeing the one, last year they were together from the 14th January. Kestrel on Grape Lane then 2 busy Kestrels on Croston moss. Up to 1000 Wood Pigeons but not much else on the mos...

Barn Owl

Whilst driving Mrs. Banks to a Valentine's day meal out, we pulled over on Bentley Lane, not for a spot of hanky panky but to watch a Barn Owl hunting over a field. Even though we were very close, the bird carried on undisturbed. Lovely sight, just as it was getting dark.

Waxwings

There are berries left on the tree. I am sorry but I don't know what sort of tree it is. They were inbetween 99 and 103 The Hawthorns, front garden. I have a photo but don't know how to post it. Not the best camera and not the best photographer but the Waxwing is clear.

Fallow Deer 29/11/10

Just been out again late afternoon and was rewarded with the sight of 4 Fallow Deer. One of them was dark in colour and blended in with the brown ferns and trees, but as Gary Lilley described last week, the other 3 are almost white. I dashed back home to get my daughter and they were still in the sa...
