Four dunnock chicks have fledged in the garden and still pestering the parents for food. Blue tit in the box is sat on 11 eggs.

Pair of Shellduck down the river this morning, 8-10 swallows although they have moved 200-300 yards further upstream than they were yesterday and 18-20 Curlews off New Lane behind Kirkhams Farm.

8 Swallows in between Croston Cornmill and Eccleston Church Bridge. No Sandmartins they normally arrive first. Both Buzzards and both Kestrels in the air over Tincklers fields and I saw a Stoat where Sydbrook Lane runs into Grape Lane.

Flock of 200+ Starling moving around fields between Tinklers Lane and Sydbrook Lane. 1 Coot, 1 Jack Snipe, and 5 Snipe on pond also 5 or 6 pairs of Lapwing in fields around the pond. Eccleston Buzzards

Walking up to the pub earlier I saw 5 Buzzards over the centre of Eccleston and a Sparrowhawk over the gardens near the chippy. I then bumped in to Gary Lilley but he couldn't confirm my sighting because one of them had disappeared and we both saw 4 Buzzards.

Ravens have 2 young. Peregrine is expected to lay her eggs any day now. Locals say she has not decided between last years nest site or the the one she used in 2008.

Police arrested a Leyland man after he left his dog at the kill. The dog Warden got the dog after and traced the owner. He was arrested but I have not heard any more details since. Eccleston Deer 16/3/10

My annual trip to the Chelteham Festival means an early departure. As I took the dogs for a quick walk before we left I saw 2 Roe Deer in a field just before 6-30am. Better not to reveal exactly where they were after recent events in the Wymott area but great to see them so close to home.
