we must have had a small fall of chiff chaff overnight last night [27th] as i counted 5 singing birds between cuerden lake and sheephill car park and a further 4 between there and the ley inn pub allso pr treecreeper in pines by lake and 2 cormorants in trees on island

hi phil 5.5grms up to 6.5grms is the weight variations during the summer months and pre autumn migration weights could be around 7.5grms upto 8.5/9.0grms still next to nowt for such a journey

a visit to our garden this afternoon by a chiff chaff who abligingly jumped into the mistnet and now has its own piece of jewelry the bird weighed in at 5.5grms amazing to think this is a north african migrant

the large siskin flock that had lingered in our garden during the last three weeks has now sadly moved on guesstimates put the total number of birds visiting our garden at 100+ with 78 ringed in march alone and 83 in total since the start of the year now its back to just catching goldfinch and titmice

cracking walk along the banks of the lune today birds seen inc 6pr greylag up to 20 lappys 4 redshank 8 oyks single curlew 2 buzzards and 11 sandmartins all flying round what looked like a potential nesting site

was in to minds yesterday afternoon after work wether to put the net up in the garden so the net was ercted for just an hour resulting in another 14 siskin caught and ringed bringing the total ringed in our garden for march to 51
