A misty start to a day in the Bowland produced: Hen Harrier (f), Peregrine pr, Buzzard (nest with young), Tawny Owl pr (in a gulley on the fellside miles from the nearest woodland!) Hen Harriers & Cuckoo's - Bowland 31st May

A cracking day in Bowland today with the following sightings:

Hen Harrier food pass and young being fed, Peregrine pair, Buzzard's, Kestrel, Raven, Dipper, Stonechat, Cuckoo, GS Woodpecker feeding young as well as Reed Bunting, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail & Grey Wagtail all feeding young.

What superb weather for having a walk around Stocks and surrounding fells :-) Apart from a Spotted Sandpiper there were Cuckoo, Green Woodpecker, GS Woodpecker, Pied Flycatcher, several Garden Warbler & Redstart. All the usual Stocks species present. 2 seperate Roe Deer sightings and a visit to ...

Jeeps Dave...... I've been several times, seen Merlins to Peregrine, Gropper to SE Owl, but missed the bloomin Cuckoo!
I remember a few years ago, at least 2 pairs of Cuckoo were "working" the fringes :-)

Peregrine & Fox - Bowland 16th May

Came across a Peregrine nest site and then a 2nd fox sighting in a week!

Also seen: Buzzard, Little Owl, Stonechat, Garden Warbler, Pied Flycatcher, Redstart, Wheatear, Grey Wagtail, Golden Plover, Curlew, Oyster Catcher, Lapwing & young.

White Coppice 13th May 1pm - 3pm

A couple of hours around White Coppice produced:
Tawny Owl, quite mobile, Dipper, Grey Wagtail, Linnet, Redpoll, GS Woodpecker, Whitethroat, Heron, Kestrel, Tree Pipit.
All the local, very common species present & vocal.

A walk around Stocks and surrounding fells produced:

Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Raven pr with 3 young, Stonechat, Tree Pipit, Kestrel, Buzzard.

Found a fox den with several playful cubs :-)

A circuit around Bleasdale Moors turned up:
