Counting Meadow Pipits

Morning exercise possibly not in keeping with the 1 hour a day exercise prescribed, but there are few people out on the moors first thing. And for anyone with "moor envy", I'm missing wandering around other parts of Chorley... Brinscall - Great Hill Farm via the main track - return via the...

Early morning patch birding

With the car out of bounds and on furlough, I'll be taking mostly early morning exercise on the moors. Might mean better patch coverage than usual? 0500-0900hrs Brinscall - Great Hill (via GH farm) - top Dean Black Brook & return via the track N of Calico Hall to Well Lane Blackbird & Robins...

But they are not back there yet. Saturday late afternoon 1620-1815hrs: 1 Lapwing, 1 Curlew (prob. male), 4 Carrion Crow...

Re: Hic Bibi Nature Reserve, Sat 7th March

Thanks Len and Lydia. Slight error in my list: I try to use the BTO 2-letter codes when noting birds and had 2 ST's on my list. The first was for Song Thrush but must have put ST down also for a small flock of Starlings which I recall flew over the reserve. Starlings should be SG. So we can add Star...

Re: Hic Bibi Nature Reserve, Sat 7th March

11 members met up on a relatively mild and dry morning to wander in Hic bibi Nature reserve and around nearby fields, returning by Hic bibi Lane. On arrival the first thing I heard on opening the car door were Greenfinch which was a good sign. Several were seen/heard near the entrance, and occasiona...

Oystercatchers are back

Reliably informed that the Oystercatchers have returned to the timber yard rooftops in Withnell where they have breed before. 4 Oystercatchers flew over our house this morning so there could be two pairs set up for breeding - or they may be unrelated to the timber yard birds...
