Croston Moss pike.
A Jack Pike head left on the bank of the drain west of the Douglas on Croston Moss, suggests that perhaps surprisingly, pike are present in the drain and secondly otters have found them! The remains lead to an estimated 30-40cm fish.

Red Bridge, Douglas and Canal
Just heard that there are plans to build a solar panel "park" in the triangle between the River Douglas and the Leeds Liverpool at Sollom. Apparently the farmers been given notice to quit by Lilford Estates. Anybody heard anything yet?

Re: Otter
Yes, we have had several sightings at Sollom/Tarleton both on the canal and the river. Great to see and a balance is usually found, not sure about any local carp stew ponds though!

Re: Fish in the syd brook .
If there are barbel in Syd Brook, they'll be in the River Yarrow and if there in the Yarrow they'll be in the Douglas and the Lostock. I fish the Douglas and haven't come across them yet....

Garganey
Almost %100 sure a pair of Garganey on the canal between Sollom and Tarleton this morning. Worth checking out if it's not too busy over the next few days.

Red Bridge Golden Plovers etc
A nice Stonechat pair among the usuals, more Redshank around as the weather has worsened and a dozen very engaging Golden Plover just over Red Bridge feeding with a few Lapwing.
