Disco started in Astley park and flushed a tawny owl over Millfield rd at 5-15pm 2nd of November.

Possible slavonian grebe 95%sure, at Rivington res just after the Millstone, seen from the bus, too big to be a lilittle grebe, very white on the breast, very uupright stance.

4 eggs left in the swan's nest. A mallard nested in a garden on Astley rd.the owner and a neighbour
shepherded the female and 8 ducklings into Astley park making sure they avoided the traffic, ( good for them ).

Short walk through Astley park at 11am, 6Jays flying around calling, 4 Buzzards circling then heading off north, male and female GSWs,plus all the usual suspects.

Astley park

A short walk in the morning revealed a heron fishing on the lake, then a walk through the woods gave a sighting of a kingfisher flying along the Chor. Other birds seen, lots of various tits, half a dozen jays, and numerous nuthatches.

Seen briefly flying north over the Park Road area a possible Osprey being mobbed by gulls ???
Did anyone else see it, I would love to confirm the sighting.

Croston area

A walk around Croston on Tuesday produced flocks of goldfinch, GSWoodpecker, a flight of 1000+ geese mainly pinkies, several skylarks, a white partridge and a white pheasant plus all the usual suspects, no raptors unfortunately.
