Cuckoo heard tonight 9.15pm on Heapey 8 dried up lodge, plus plenty Willow Warbler and several Reed Bunting.

Three Steps / Hall o'Hill

Dipper, Grey Wagtail and Song Thrush hopping around the stones in the Yarrow. Heron over. Pheasant calling. Willow Warbler singing in a couple of spots on the golf course. Oystercatcher over canal. House Martin over fields, Swallow on wires.

Yarrow Chorley Sewage Works / Euxton

Several mallard including female with 3 ducklings in tow. Fish jumping constantly. Chiffchaff, willow warbler, buzzard over, grey wagtail, great spotted woodpecker drumming. A fair amount of Giant Hogweed rising in a couple of spots, amongst the normal Hogweed and other native umbellifers.

Evening walk. A few pheasant. 4 or 5 stonechat including pair at Hordern Butts Delf. Reed Bunting and couple of reeling Grasshopper Warbler at same location. Nice walk around Withnell Moor this evening (Millstone Edge / Stepping Stones). Willow Warblers, Curlew, countless meadow pipit and skylark. Grasshopper Warbler reeling. Cuckoo. 3 Redshank.

Great Hill from White Coppice

Off for a jog so little time to stand and stare, however picked up gropper reeling at Drinkwaters, red grouse calling both sides of the path nr Coppice Stile, and Cuckoo calling at the cricket field. Willow warblers everywhere.
