Coppull Jubilee Woodland

Usual small birds, no migrants. 2 or 3 Buzzard. Kestrel hovering. Peregrine on the pylon. 2 field mouse. 40+ goldfinch, 30+ jackdaw over. Meadow pipit over. Single yellowhammer. Fungi - at least 1000 shaggy inkcaps.

Duxbury Woods

Dipper in full song on the river. Jays scrapping in the trees. Single bullfinch, redwing, fieldfare and mistle thrush on the Rowan berries near the car park. Approx 10 grey squirrel. Plenty of candle snuff and Turkey tail fungus plus this intriguing specimen.

Fungi names are so blunt! I've seen Yellow Brain, Dead Man's Fingers and King Alfred's Cakes, but Dog's Sick Slime Mould tops the lot!

Went this evening and extended into the wheat fields by the railway tunnel, 6 or 7 whitethroat and 8-10 yellowhammer in total. Linnet, song thrush, goldfinch, willow warbler or chiffchaff. Couple of kestrel also.

I normally wear polarised sunnies when walking about and always have a good look when walking and see very, very few fish, only really the odd one turning for a fly.
