Coppull Jubilee Woodland

Extended the walk this time to include the fields around Chisnall Hall.

Chiffchaff, 2 buzzard, song thrush, carrion crow, woodpigeon, small woodland tits/thrush family, kestrel, 8 oystercatcher, 4 curlew, grey wagtail, greenfinch, pheasant, chaffinch, sparrow, yellowhammer, skylark.

GC Grebe on Upper Riv Res on drive to.

Old Rachel's, Hempshaws, Simms

Countless pheasant, meadow pipits, skylark (and bh gull "skeins" over)
Jay mewing like a buzzard
Raven calling
5 or 6 stonechat
Few reed bunting
3 mallard chasing each other around
6 curlew

Denham (Hough) Hill

Hoping for willow warbler round the quarry but no luck. Too windy! 5 lapwing, 5ish starling, odd crow, 2 kestrel, small flocks of greenfinch, chaffinch, linnet. Meadow pipit. Dunnock. Sparrow. Woodpigeon. Moorhen. Coot. Mallard. 3 Curlew. About 10 pheasant so more by weight than the rest put together.

Yarrow west of Fox Hole Wood

31st March highlights mandarin (single m), chiffchaff, nuthatch, goldcrest, obligatory pheasant, GSW. Marsh marigold. Umbellifers cow parsley, hogweed, giant hogweed.

Keep an eye out for Joshua Styles' postings on Twitter @joshua951 also D Dunlop of Lancs WT @lawt_d there are reports and photos. Who knows maybe in more communal times, access could be granted if arranged?

Nice walk from Drinkhouse to the Lostock/Yarrow/Douglas confluences and then south to the Finney and back, 4 and a bit miles. Very cold! Plants in flower - cow parsley, forget-me-not, garlic mustard, dandelion, according to my app also fig buttercup and lungwort(?). Early growth of hogweed, cleavers...

25th - Great Hill from White Coppice Mipits everywhere, great fun, quite a few skylark too. Small flock of reed bunting by Coppice Stile. 7 stonechat (3 pairs). Curlew. Small tit flocks (blue, great, LT). Song Thrush, 3 Mistle Thrush. Approx 3 chiffchaff. Pheasant. Yellowhammer. Kestrel. Approx 50 mixed black crows (carrion, jackdaw). Goldcrest calling a couple of spots.

Anglezarke Moor

Lapwing, grey wagtail, several skylark, many meadow pipits, pheasant, mistle thrush, pair stonechat by Simms, NO sign of wheatear nor yaffle (nor curlew). Decent amount of frog spawn in a couple of spots. Molehills. Young deer.
