2 very live ones outside the house last night, seem to do OK on the Gillibrand estate, with the woods surrounding much of the northern part of it providing an escape route

12.30-1.15pm - 21 pink foots landed on the former flooded field as I arrived. The EA guy inspecting the bridge says its rhe earliest he's seen them in the area. Not much else about - kestrel (2), woodpigeon, mallard and moorhen on the Douglas.

6.00-8.00pm - a few waders on the receding pools tonight, single greenshank and 2 green sandpiper feeding close together on the Alma Wood flood, joined by 9 common snipe. definitely a godwit John, alarm call and wing markings gave it away (much as I would like it to be morphed into a dowitcher!), I was wondering whether it was one of the dozen we saw earlier on the other side of the railway.
