Dozens of Common Blue butterflies. 2 Small Copper. A few Azure and a few Large Red Damselflies.

Euxton Garden
Stoat in the garden this morning briefly. Stock Doves, Wood Pigeons and Wrens are nesting. Long Tailed Tits probably have nest nearby but I haven't found it yet.
Numerous Red Mason Bees using our bee hotels. Peacocks, Orange Tips and Speckled Woods are regular at the moment.

White Coppice
Walked north towards Heather Lea Woods and back. Cuckoo calling all the time. Curlew bubbling. Blackcap Willow Warblers and Chiffchaffs all singing. Orange Tip, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell and Speckled Woods quite numerous. Single Red Admiral and single Green Hairstreak.

Holly Blue almost certainly. Still too early for Common Blue I think.

Wrote too soon. Frogspawn in front and back ponds this morning. I did say the frogs were getting frisky!

Smooth Newt found in our garden pond yesterday while I was removing some of the leaves that I should have removed two months ago. Only the second we have seen in 40 years here. We had been away for 3 weeks so no food for the birds, but after stocking the feeders 4 days ago, the Bramblings are back. We have 2 Bramblings in the garden this morning.

2 Male and 1 Female Brambling in the garden this morning. Most unusual for us. We have probably only had them in the garden three or four times in 40 years. Maybe 20 Goldfinches and a single female Greenfunch also feeding on sunflower seeds.

Decades ago, House Sparrows, Greenfinches and Collared Doves were numerous in our garden. Hummingbird Hawk
We had a single Hummingbird Hawk Moth feeding in the garden (Euxton) yesterday. Also 2 Red Admirals and a Comma. Our German Wasps' nest is still active.
