Garganey, Newton Marsh.

Called in at Newton Marsh on the way back from Blackpool. A Male and Female Garganey on the entrance pool close in.

Marshside

Spent a couple of hours on the marsh this morning. Lots of waders and BH Gulls on the inner marsh, many of them in breeding mode. Little Egrets. Mute Swans. Gadwalls showing well. Blackcap. Goldfinch. Linnet. 10 plus Wheatear mostly male. Skylark. Meadow Pipit. Lapwing. Greenfinch Merlin and Kestrel...

Primrose Hill Fields

A Robin was busy collecting food, presumably for the nest. A Red Legged Partridge was siding with a Male Pheasant by the hedgerow. Lots of Corvids. 2 Swallows. Several House Sparrows and Blackbirds. Is it just a matter of following Dean Black Brook to opposite Joe Fell Memorial from its start near the cricket field to see the Shrike. Thanks.

It was nice to spend an hour around the cricket field area listening to the many Willow Warblers singing along with other birds. Nuthatch. Blackbirds. 3 Wrens. Chaffinches. Robins all singing. Dunnock. Magpies. Corvids. Pheasants. 1 Jay. 1 Kestrel and 3 Wheatear 1 Male and 2 Female. 1 Grey Squirrel.
